Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has exuded confidence that the party’s decision to make a person from backward classes as the Chief Minister of Telangana State is sure to create a wave in favour of the TDP in the run-up to the forthcoming elections.
The impact of the promise was already being felt and a debate was on at the grassroots level leaving other parties unnerved. “The commitment is sure to unsettle these parties. The weaker sections and BCs should join forces with the TDP during the crucial 35 days to ensure that political power for downtrodden sections is realised,” he said. Mr. Naidu was addressing an impressive gathering that attended the party’s Praja Garjana programme in the neighbouring Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday. Mr. Naidu who was given a rousing reception by the party leaders and cadre participated in an impressive rally before reaching the meeting venue. Alampur Congress MLA Abraham unhappy over the party leadership ignoring him in the selection of candidates for the MPTC/ZPTC elections joined the TDP in the presence of Mr. Naidu.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Naidu announced that the TDP, if voted to power, would develop an industrial corridor along the national highway from the Capital and provide jobs to educated youth of the district. He ridiculed TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s attempts to take credit for the formation of Telangana claiming that the TDP which gave letter to the Congress Government remained steadfast on its decision. Now that Telangana State had become a reality, Mr. Rao was planning to exploit the resources created by the erstwhile TDP Government for his selfish ends, but the TDP would oppose any such moves.
He, however, wanted the people to extend their fullest cooperation to the TDP enabling it to form the Government to ensure that their long cherished dreams like political power, irrigation water and development in the backward district were realised.
Addressing a meeting of registered medical practitioners and private medical practitioners at the party office earlier, Mr. Naidu said the TDP had included the issues relating to them in its manifesto and assured that eligible candidates will be inducted into emergency medicare services like 104, 108.
