Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has promised students that the government will take up marketing of Apps and IT solutions developed by them. The government will also rope in companies such as Microsoft, Oracle and Amazon.com for the purpose, he said.

The Chief Minister was in the city on Monday to launch the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Skill Development Centres at various colleges across the State.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naidu suggested the LEAP (learn, earn, apply, and propagate) model for students. “Students need to learn how to develop Apps and earn through them. The government will provide smartphone to each student who develops Apps and trains five more students,” he said.

“The creative ideas and innovations made people such as Bill Gates billionaires. More so, their innovations changed the course of the world. So, think out of the box. Think creatively and innovatively. Chinese, Germans or Singaporeans were not extraordinary people. But, their discipline, scientific approach, adoption of technologies and creativity put them on the global map,” he said.

He added students were forced to study MPC or BiPC, irrespective of their interest in those subjects.

“So, the government is considering a proposal to introduce student-driven courses in the near future as against the existing college-driven courses. If possible, counselling for Standard X students will be included on Intermediate courses and further. It will give an insight to students on their future. The government’s objective is practical education system,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the government had chalked out plans to provide wi-fi connectivity to every college, including private, and universities in the State from the next academic year.

The target is to provide 20 to 25 mbps bandwith connectivity to every house hold in the State. One to two giga byte bandwith connectivity to every college proposals is also on cards, he said, adding: “My dream is every house should have a computer literate and entrepreneur.”

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary, Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa, Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kollu Ravindra, P.Narayana, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) were present.
