Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sought the help of Russia in the construction of Amaravati, the new capital of his state. Naidu had earlier expressed interest in getting help from countries including China, Japan, Singapore, Turkey and Kazakhstan in building Amaravati.
Stating that his government has set a yearly growth target of 15 for next 15 years for his state, Naidu invited Russian investment in sectors including defence, aerospace, civil nuclear energy, information technology and pharma, according to an official statement.
A high level Indian delegation led by commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman and including representatives from states such as AP, Maharashtra and Rajasthan are in Russia to take part in INNOPROM 2016, the largest annual international industrial trade fair of Russia. India is the ‘Partner Country’ for the fair.
Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis agreed to identify companies in Maharashtra and Russia who can partner with each other. He signed an Agreement for Sister-State relationship with Sverdlovsk region, the statement said. Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje emphasized the potential of minerals and mining in Rajasthan and spoke of the need for India-Russia cooperation in the areas of urban infrastructure and water management.
Discussions were also held to explore possibilities of investment in India and in Russia including in the Urals Region as a whole. Both the countries agreed to cooperate in sectors such as defence, nuclear, oil and gas.
