TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly written to Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), CPI, CPI (M) and Lok Satta seeking their support for his party candidates in the election to the Legislative Council from MLAs quota.

The TDP with an effective strength of 77 in the 294-member House stood a chance of getting two of its candidates elected on its own. However, the party is hoping to get its third candidate elected with the support of others and second preference votes of its own members.

The MIM has seven MLAs, CPI four and CPI (M) and Lok Satta one member each. The Left parties have announced that the decision on extending support to contestants in the elections would be taken in a couple of days. Meanwhile, the TRS has also sought the support of the CPI.
