TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu is said to be contemplating taking a break from his walkathon and cover the remaining area in the three north coastal districts and East Godavari by ‘chaitanya ratham’, party insiders say.

The party leadership is expected to take a decision on this in a day or two in East Godavari district.

The TDP president entered East Godavari district on Wednesday via Kovvuru after covering West Godavari.

Political situation

The change in the political situation after the no-confidence motion moved by the TRS and the possibility of the YSRC making a similar move, warrant the presence of Mr. Naidu in the State headquarters.

Besides, his health condition and the party’s high-profile Mahanadu, slated to be held from May 20, are cited as the reasons for the changes expected in the ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ programme.

Covered 2,200 km

Mr. Naidu, who embarked on the walkathon at Hindupur in Anantapur district on October 2, has, till date, covered a distance of 2,200 km.

According to party sources, he will require another 50 days at least to cover East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Viziangaram and Srikakulam districts on foot.

In the event of his shifting to ‘chaitanya ratham’, he is expected to complete the campaign in 15 days.
