After suggesting to the TDP MLAs to take a cue from the Singapore Parliament, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu showered praise on the MLAs who were “very proactive in Assembly” in the ongoing winter session.
Addressing the TDLP meeting here on Friday, Mr. Naidu said, “I am happy. The MLAs really played the Opposition role in the Assembly. I asked them to grill the Ministers. They did it in letter and spirit. The Ministers also should come prepared to the Assembly.”
Referring to YSR Congress abstaining from the Assembly, Mr. Naidu said that he had never seen a political party that abstained from the Assembly in 40 years of his political career.
The government also took up and discussed subjects concerning the people, he said.
Stating that public satisfaction on governance was impressive, he said the government’s target was to achieve 80% satisfaction level among the people.
He further said that MLAs and constituency in charges should chalk out their strategies, improve their performance, and take the programmes and the party closer to the people.
The MLAs should also change with times. They should imbibe latest technologies, he said. People would not accept if an MLA reacts six months after receiving the petitions. They expect real-time solutions, for which the MLAs should gear up.
People would definitely elect the TDP in the next elections. There was no iota of doubt in it. The question was how many seats the Opposition party would win. The efforts should be to reduce the tally of the YSRCP as much as possible, he added.
