Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday asked people to choose between development and corruption as he hit the road in the district campaigning for party candidates in Guntur district.
In the sharpest attack on Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy, Mr. Naidu said that he was a dictator who has little faith in democratic institutions and accused him of accumulating wealth by using the influence of his father. Continuing his tirade against Mr. Jagan, he said that most of the YSR Congress candidates were facing criminal charges and could be arrested in future.
He also tore into the Congress saying that Sonia Gandhi was insensitive to the needs of the people which was why she divided the State. The residuary State of Andhra Pradesh would face challenges in future and it takes a leader with credibility to rebuild it.
Doling out sops to women, farmers and widows, he said that loans granted to DWACRA women would be waived off, farm loans would be waived off and monthly pension to widows would be raised to Rs. 1,000.
Agriculture sector would be provided impetus, he said promising nine-hour free power supply and enhancement of Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farm produce.
The coastal part of the State would be developed on par with Singapore, he said and promised to facilitate setting up of agro-based food processing industries. Sops would be given to entrepreneurs willing to set up cold storage industries, he added.
Lambasting the successive Congress governments for scrapping Deepam scheme, he said that the scheme would be reintroduced if the party comes to power.
Mr. Naidu also promised that the existing agricultural college would be upgraded into agricultural university, a 100-bedded hospital would be set up at Repalle, a rail link to Repalle from Tenali and a government engineering college at Repalle.
Party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Bapatla Sriram Malyadri, Annam Satish Prabhakar (Bapatla Assembly) and Anagani Satyaprasad Gowd (Repalle) accompanied Mr. Naidu on the tour.
