: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has definite plans to effectively counter the illegal projects taken up by the Telangana government, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy asserted on Tuesday.

“The Government will not reveal its plans but will swing into action at the appropriate moment,” he told the media here. The State government had already addressed a letter to the Union government, urging it to direct the Apex Council to review the illegal projects in Telangana, he said and exuded confidence that the lift irrigation projects would remain incomplete even after a decade.

As per the A.P. Reorganisation Act, Telangana cannot go ahead with irrigation projects without obtaining valid permissions, Mr. Krishnamurthy said. The Government had urged Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti to convene a meeting of Irrigation Ministers of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and thrash out the issue. The government would take legal recourse, if needed, to stop the projects.

He termed YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s jala deeksha a “political drama” to put a stop to his MLAs deserting the party. While YSRC MPs and leaders bagged multi-crore contracts in the irrigation projects taken up by Telangana, Mr. Jagan was crying hoarse in Kurnool claiming that Rayalaseema would turn into a desert, he said. He asked the Opposition leader to explain why he allowed Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to join the TRS.

“Pattiseema, an integral

part of Polavaram”

Rebutting Telangana Minister Harish Rao’s assertion that the Pattiseema lift irrigation project was illegal, Mr. Krishnamurthy maintained that the question does not arise as it was an integral part of the Polavaram project. The State government was aware of “the lies being uttered by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao and Mr. Harish Rao,” he said.
