Social media is one place where any big claim is retorted by users. In one such instance on Twitter, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday was trolled by Twitterati for calling his son and IT Minister Nara Lokesh a youth icon while extending birthday wishes.

It was the 35th birthday of the young Minister on Tuesday, and Mr. Naidu who is in Davos wrote on Twitter: “Blessings and wishes to Telugu youth icon and charismatic leader, Nara Lokesh, on his birthday. May you be blessed with greater strength and determination to serve the citizens of Andhra Pradesh .”

Mr. Naidu addressing Mr. Lokesh as youth icon has caught the attention of Twitter users, who apparently responded humorously. The tweet has been flooded with funny memes instead of birthday wishes to the Minister in the replies section.

It also became the only tweet of Mr. Naidu to evoke a huge response of 353 comments, 219 retweets and 1,921 likes, at the time of writing, surpassing the Chief Minister’s Sankranti festival wishes message to Telugu people.

“It is not enough if you assume him as Telugu icon. People should call him so. Villages in the State are still lacking drinking water and roads,” replied L. Ramakrishna of Anantapur district.

“Telugu youth icon and charismatic leader? Then he should have contested in elections and become a Minister,” another user wrote.

Most of the responses were made in the form of memes taking a funny note of the Minister being called a youth icon.

Support to the Minister

But there were others who praised Mr. Lokesh for ignoring his birthday and meeting representatives of MNCs like Paypal and others on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos. Others recalled how Mr. Lokesh was instrumental in solving many problems in rural areas as Minister for Panchayat Raj using technology effectively.
