Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu who was discharged from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital at New Delhi on Sunday afternoon, returned here in the evening to a reception by party workers and got admitted in the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology.
He had sought a discharge from the New Delhi hospital after making a recovery from his six-day hunger strike. The hospital authorities agreed to his request as his condition was stable, sources said. Mr. Naidu was admitted to hospital by police on Friday as his condition deteriorated owing to the fast against bifurcation of the State at AP Bhavan since Monday. Coming out of hospital today, Mr. Naidu told reporters that Congress was not following any system or proper procedures in bifurcation. The Congress did not consider the fears of people of coastal and Rayalaseema districts about education, employment, revenue sharing, water resources and status of Hyderabad besides its future.
Mr. Naidu criticised All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijay Singh and Union Ministers Veerappa Moily and Sushil Kumar Shinde for issuing contradicting statements. He also lashed out at Congress for dividing the State for political gains in collusion with the YSR Congress. The Congress should hold talks with leaders of both regions. He appealed to national parties to put pressure on Congress to do justice.
TDP senior leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy told a press conference on Sunday that the YSR Congress had no moral right to criticise the hunger strike on bifurcation issue by the former’s president N. Chandrababu Naidu as he staged it far away from home in New Delhi despite being a diabetic.
The fast also brought about a change in the attitude of national parties towards bifurcation, he said.
