MVI suspended for anomalies in lorry registrations

July 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - ONGOLE:

State Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao on Friday announced the suspension of an errant motor vehicles inspector in Mangalagiri of the neighbouring Guntur district.

The Minister told a press conference here that the official was placed under suspension after an inquiry by the Guntur Deputy Transport Commissioner revealed that registration of 27 lorries was done in violation of laid out inspection procedure.

“I have asked Transport Commissioner N. Balasubramanyam to take further action against the MVI Siva Nageswara Rao based on the findings,” he added.

On alleged increase in bribery cases in the Transport department, he said the ACB had been asked to step up raids to unearth any illegal assets of staff at the grassroots level.
