Mudragada stable, say doctors

Even as doctors of the government hospital here maintained that the health condition of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham and his wife Padmavathi was stable, representatives of the community on Sunday expressed doubts as he had been on fast for the last 11 days.

With the eight accused in the Tuni arson case getting bail on Saturday, Mr. Padmanabham’s son Giri and daughter-in-law Siri gave up their fast on Saturday night.

Mr. Padmanabham, however, was firm on continuing the fast till all the accused in the case who had been arrested were freed unconditionally. The doctors said that fluids were being given to him and his wife.

Heath bulletins were being sent to the government every two hours.

Accusing the government of adopting a nonchalant attitude, Kapu leaders staged agitations in different parts of the district on Sunday. Relay fast was conducted by local leaders in all important towns. Speaking to the media here, former MP G.V. Harsha Kumar alleged that the government was treating Mr. Padmanabham like a prisoner and no one was allowed to visit him in the hospital.
