To counter govt.’s ‘false campaign’

Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham is going to tour all the Assembly constituencies in the State to explain to people in detail about the ‘false campaign’ launched by the State government that reservation was already being implemented for the Kapus. Announcing this at the end of the Kapu Joint Action Committee (KJAC) meeting here on Monday, conveners of the committee Vasireddi Yesudasu and Akula Ramakrishna said that a detailed plan of action would be announced very soon.

Accusing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of deceiving the Kapus in the name of extending BC status to them, the conveners said that none of the Kapus was able to get the BC ‘F’ certificate as announced by the government. “Instead, the applicants are getting a stock reply from the officials concerned that the guidelines are yet to be issued,” they said, adding that Kapus from all the districts complained of being denied caste certificates under the BC category. “The meeting felt that it is high time it ‘exposed the true colours of the Chief Minister to all the sections’ and decided that a campaign by Mr. Padmanabham will serve the purpose,” they said.

Referring to the release of funds to the Kapu corporation, they said while the government promised to spend ₹1,000 crore a year towards the overall development of Kapus through the corporation, only ₹1,300 crore had been released in the last four years.

“The same is the case with extending free education from KG to PG to the Kapu students. Hence, the KJAC has decided to express its resentment,” they said.
