Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham was confined to his house on Saturday, a day after he unveiled his plan to embark on ‘Aatmeeya Palakarimpu’ in the Konaseema region from Sunday.
Policemen, led by Peddapuram DSP Ch. Ramarao, went to Mr. Padmanabham’s residence here even as he was chalking out the programme with the JAC leaders.
The DSP told Mr. Padmanabham that there was no permission to take out the motorcycle rally proposed in the P. Gannavaram constituency on Sunday as part of the ‘Aatmeeya Palakarimpu’ programme.
The DSP further told Mr. Padmanabham that he was free to go alone anywhere, attend any function and visit anyone personally. He was advised against taking out rallies.
When contacted, the DSP said though they had not served any notice placing the Kapu leader under house arrest on Saturday, Mr. Padmanabham was confined to his house.
Amalapuram DSP Prasanna Kumar said as Section 30 of the Police Act was in force, they would not allow any rallies, meetings or congregations in Konaseema.
Meanwhile, a battalion of the Rapid Action Force, three SIs and more than 25 constables were posted at the residence of Mr. Padmanabham.
