Machilipatnam Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman and Krishna District Collector B. Lakshmikantam has set a target for Deputy Collectors to gather at least 2,000 acres of private land under the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) by July-end.

Seven teams led by Deputy Collectors have been deployed by the MUDA to complete the Herculean task of gathering the notified 33,000 acres of land for Machilipatnam Port and Industrial Corridor. A land acquisition notification issued in August 2015 to gather the land in Machilipatnam and Pedana mandals will expire in August.

In a special meet with the MUDA authorities and Deputy Collectors, Mr. Lakshmikantam had reminded them the need of gathering the 2,000 acres of land that was to be spared for the Machilipatnam port. “I do not hesitate to surrender the Deputy Collectors to the State government in the event of poor performance,” Mr. Lakshmikantam warned. MUDA Vice-Chairman M. Venugopal Reddy has explained the status of the LPS during the meet.

Delay in agency selection

The process of selecting an agency to prepare the MUDA Master Plan has been delayed and a decision on the selection was yet to be taken by the Municipal Administration Ministry. A total of four agencies have been recommended by the MUDA for preparation of the master plan.

Park project

The MUDA has proposed to develop a park in the Housing Board Colony here by spending ₹46 lakh. Mr. Lakshmikantam has reviewed the project.
