MP opposes toll plaza at Kondayapalem

May 09, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - NELLORE:

Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, MP, has demanded that works on the proposed toll plaza in Nellore Municipal Corporation limits at Kondayapalem on the national highway here be withdrawn immediately.

In an appeal made to Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari, Mr. Reddy said there was already a toll plaza within 15 km of Nellore city located at Venkatachalam.

Mr. Rajamohan Reddy said that going by the norms of a minimum 60 km distance between two toll plazas, the new one at Kondayapalem should not be set up.

Public protest

He deplored that fresh attempts were being made despite the fact that the previous Kanuparthipadu plaza was withdrawn last year because of public protest.
