Mother, baby die at hospital

Tension prevailed since morning in Toopran mandal headquarters on Thursday for about seven hours as a mother and new born baby died in hospital in half-an-hour gap. The relatives of the deceased tried to attack the hospital but were prevented by the police.

According to sources, one Nagapur Kausalya (25), a native of Daparapally village was admitted in Sri Venkateswara Nursing Home for delivery at about 4 a.m. The mother and new born baby died at about 7 a.m. reportedly due to low haemoglobin count.

District Medical and Health Officer C. Ranga Reddy confirmed that Salina, who ran the hospital, had no qualification to do so and decided to seize hospital immediately. Police reportedly took Ms. Salina into custody.
