More ticket counters to be set up for Godavari Pushkarams

The Union Railway Ministry would extend all possible support for the smooth conduct of the Godavari Pushkarams, SCR Divisional Railway Manager (Vijayawada) Ashok Kumar said here on Wednesday.

He held discussions relating to Pushkaram works with Pushkar Special Officer J. Murali, Rajahmundry MP M. Murali Mohan, Rajahmundry City MLA Dr. Akula Satyannarayana and Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Butchiah Choudary during his one-day visit. Mr. Murali explained the DRM about the works undertaken such as construction of new ghats.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashok Kumar said that the Railways would take steps to modernise Rajahmundry railway station, set up temporary lodging and would develop the eastern part of Rajahmundry railway station. He promised that additional toilets and ticket counters would be set up during Pushkarams and asked the authorities concerned to ensure that pillars of the railway bridge were not affected during the extension of Pushkar ghat.

Mr. Muralimohan urged the railways to extend full support in conducting Pushkarams in grand manner. MLA Dr. Akula stressed the need from all sections to provide facilities to pilgrims during Pushkarams. Rajahmundry rural MLA Mr. Gorantla also stressed to take necessary steps to cater the needs of lakhs of pilgrims who would arrive in Rajahmundry to take a holy bath. Mr. J. Murali urged the railway department to issue e-tickets through E-seva and Mee-seva centres.
