Former Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, an accused in the Vodarevu Nizampatnam Ports and Industrial Corridor (VANPIC) part of the quid pro quo investments case against Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, on Thursday moved a special court here seeking bail on health grounds.

In a petition filed on his behalf in the Principal Special Court for CBI Cases, the court was pleaded that Mr. Venkataramana was suffering from chronic back pain due to problem in his spinal cord. He was taken to Osmania General hospital several times by the Chanchalguda jail authorities in the past few months for treatment but there was no relief for him, it was explained in the petition.

Mr. Venkataramana was taken to a private hospital a few days ago, where the doctors had recommended surgical intervention if the injection they administered during the visit failed to provide him any relief within a couple of days. Then medical report given by the private hospital to the jail authorities was also enclosed to the bail petition.
