Monkeys snap power line, disrupt train services

A group of monkeys snapped a high tension electrical wire at Tadepalli disrupting train services on the Chennai-Howrah line. A monkey who came in contact with the 25,000 volts electrical wire died.

A group of monkeys moving on a high tension electrical wire at Ippateru village in Tadepalli mandal snapped it on Wednesday morning. The wires draw power from the substation at Tadepalli. As a result, power supply to the railway line extending to Pedavadlapudi village in Mangalagiri mandal was disrupted.

Railway personnel who noticed the snappingstopped Kerala Express bound for New Delhi at Pedavadlapudi for more than 40 minutes. A passenger train was also stopped till the repairs were carried out.
