Money flows in for NH-26 widening

April 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VIZIANAGARAM:

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has sanctioned Rs. 84.12 crore for widening NH-43 (now NH-26) into four lanes from Rajapulova to Chelluru (11.6 km) following recommendation of Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju.

According to a press release, Mr. Ashok reportedly rejected a proposal of NHAI for a tollgate on this route as it would cause “inconvenience to people.” In addition to NH-26 widening, Mr. Ashok got sanctions for a by-pass road from Chelluru to Gotlam (17.5 km).

A sum of Rs. 230 crore was allocated in the Budget 2015-16 for the road.
