BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday declared that black money stashed away abroad would be brought back if NDA returned to power and it would be used for the welfare of the poor and to reward honest income-tax payers.

Addressing an NDA rally which was also attended by Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and film star and Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan, Modi assured that whatever was needed to bring back the black money would be done, even if it requires changing the law. He said the honest would get respect and the dishonest would be punished.

Mr. Modi targeted the youth in the 18-28 age group and appealed to them to think of their future. “Will your life be not ruined if an inefficient government comes at the Centre”, he asked and observed that there was need for a strong government that delivers. He said the XII standard exam was the most important in the career of a student and the period between 18 and 28 years was the most significant as it would shape the future direction of their career. Even a loss of five days during that period could impact one’s life.

Describing the Congress manifesto as “deceptive”, Modi said the ruling party was trying to hoodwink people by promising to create 10 crore jobs. It had promised the same number of jobs in 2009 but could generate only 1.25 crore jobs since 2004, while the NDA during the six-year rule of A.B. Vajpayee had created one crore jobs.

Mr. Modi also said these were the times of technology and the country has to be made into a “digital India” on a par with the developed nations. But the Congress-led government during the past 10 years had “looted” the country and used the CBI for political ends.

Referring to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Modi said while the BJP fought for the creation of Telangana, he was not in agreement with the manner in which the State was divided. While delivering the baby, Congress had deeply wounded the “Telugu spirit,” he said. Describing Seemandhra and Telangana as new born babies, he said the new government to be formed at the Centre understands the responsibility and would take care of them.

Urging the people of Telangana not to forget the sacrifices made by 1,200 youth when they vote, he said “ If you give me an opportunity, I will give you in seven months what you did not get in 60 years”.
