Telangana BJP unit has urged the party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to address four public meetings in Telangana either on April 18 or 19. Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy said they have requested Mr. Modi to address four meetings at Medak, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Mahabubnagar either on April 18 or 19. A response was being awaited and the details were yet to be finalised.
Addressing a press conference after N.V. Subhash, grandson of former PM P.V. Narasimha Rao, joined the party here on Friday, Mr. Reddy urged Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to take steps on a war-footing to ensure uninterrupted power supply to farmers. He appealed to the Governor to purchase power from neighbouring States if necessary and come to the rescue of the farmers. He said that people were joining the BJP in the interest of the country without aspiring for positions. Earlier, former Sikkim Governor V. Rama Rao and senior leader P. Muralidhar Rao flagged off the ‘prachara ratham’ of Bandaru Dattatreya, who is contesting from the Secunderabad LS constituency. The absence of the photo of Mr. Kishan Reddy on the ‘ratham’ which has pictures of Mr. Modi and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, raised eyebrows in party circles. Communist leader Mallu Swarajyam’s daughter Paduri Karuna and industrialist Nitish Neredi also joined the BJP.
