BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi left the large gathering of BJP and TDP cadres spellbound with his interactive speech during the election public meeting at the sprawling Ambedkar Stadium grounds here on Tuesday.
It was the same ground where AICC chief Sonia Gandhi had addressed a meeting on Thursday. She had come to fulfil her promise made to the people of the region on conceding Telangana.
Loud cheersRunning behind schedule, Mr. Modi spoke for about 15 minutes but that was enough to electrify the spirit and morale of the audience. People were receptive to his queries and cheered him lustily through the meeting. When he asked who would provide best governance and develop the new State of Telangana, the spontaneous answer from the huge gathering was ‘Modi, Modi’.
When he asked whether the people of Telangana would still vote for Congress, which had claimed over 1,200 youths’ lives for the cause of the separate state, there was a loud ‘no’ from the audience.
Trying to strike a chord with the people of Telangana, he said there were around three lakh people from the region working in Surat in Gujarat. “I treat them as my own younger brothers and family members. I know how to treat you all and strive for development of separate Telangana State,” he said amid thunderous applause.
BJP Karimnagar MP nominee Ch. Vidyasagar Rao promised a Metro Rail line from Karimnagar to Hyderabad and launch of navigation facilities on river Godavari.
