Thanks to the stringent implementation of the election Model Code of Conduct, electioneering is in check and has not yet reached a feverish pitch in rural Adilabad.
Less vehiclesThis has ensured that voters in villages go about their daily chores without the din that accompanies poll campaigning.
Not many candidates of rural local bodies for which elections will be held on April 6 and 11 have deployed more number of campaign vehicles carrying flags of political parties with loudspeakers blaring election songs.
On an average, a ZPTC candidate has deployed an auto or jeep as the case may be to carry on the campaign in interior villages.
“We know that teams of officials implementing the model code are keeping tabs on our election expenditure. We do not want any trouble from the election authorities so we have restricted the use of vehicles,” observes Banoth Kishan Naik, an election manager of a ZPTC candidate in Asifabad Assembly constituency.
Voters happyThe voters are also more than happy to be left alone as they are busy harvesting rabi crops or whatever they can salvage of them after the damage caused by adverse climatic conditions in February-March.
Now, they will also get more time to prepare their fields for the kharif season.
