MLA demands probe into alleged corruption in RMC

March 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - RAJAHMUNDRY:

City MLA Akula Satyanarayana has urged the State government to order a probe by the CBCID or Vigilance into the alleged corruption in different wings of the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC).

“I will meet Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu before the Assembly sessions and explain him about the rampant corruption in RMC, particularly in town planning, engineering and other wings,” he told the media here on Thursday.

Referring to the members coming to blows during the RMC council meeting on Wednesday, the MLA said that it was unfortunate and unwanted as well.

Resolution

However, he alleged that in the melee, most important issues including the alleged corruption in RMC were not taken up and the Mayor had passed all the resolutions amid the pandemonium and demanded that the State government must inquire into the alleged graft that had taken place in the last five years.

He recalled that a probe had been demanded into the alleged corruption in town planning and outsourcing of sanitation workers since the first meeting of the present council.

The BJP had decided to set up a fact-finding panel to inquire into the purchase of different items in engineering, electrical and medical and health departments, plan approvals, how the applications were processed under building penalisation scheme.
