Mixed feelings among employees

June 01, 2014 10:11 pm | Updated 10:11 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Lot of excitement and a sense of loss summed up the mood of the employees of Telangana and Seemandhra respectively in the Secretariat of the united Andhra Pradesh on the last day before the appointed day.

Employees turned up for work despite being Sunday to carry out the last minute work of the State reorganisation and to collect the ‘orders to serve’ in Telangana State.

For Telangana employees, as voiced by an Assistant Section Officer J.Vijay Bhaskar of Panchayat Raj Department, the last day in the united Andhra Pradesh secretariat evoked mixed feelings. “ We are happy as Telangana State is the culmination of decades-old struggle. We agitated for a goal and achieved it. But we also feel sad that some of our colleagues now belong to other State,” he says.

The mood, understandably was a bit subdued among Seemandhra employees. A deputy secretary said they now should get ready to move to the new capital and get adjusted to the life all over again in near future. “We do not know when our Chief Minister will move and ask us to follow,” he said.

A section officer said they were witness to a historic development but it was also emotional time. Some Seemandhra employees who are allotted to Telangana Secretariat fear they may be treated like outsiders.
