Minor enacts kidnap drama to avoid stay in hostel

July 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - TIRUPATI:

The incident of kidnap of a minor girl turned out to be a hoax with the “victim” returning to her residence at Srikalahasti on Thursday.

As her parents insisted on her to stay there, she and her sibling enacted the kidnap drama to enable her leave the hostel, Tirupati Urban SP R. Jayalakshmi said.

The SP said that the eldest of the two planned the escape act and directed the younger one to implement it.

As per the plan, the girl, en route her school from the hostel, boarded an autorickshaw to Srikalahasti bus station on July 12 and asked the younger one to give it the “kidnap twist.”

The girl promptly told the school’s headmaster that her sister had been kidnapped. The headmaster, in turn, informed the parents about the incident and lodged a complaint with the II Town police at Srikalahasti.

“We formed a special team to track the girl. She, however, returned to her residence on Thursday and revealed her ploy,” the SP said. “The girl was spotted by a relative in Sullurupeta and brought back to her residence.”

Ms. Jayalakshmi counselled the parents and the girls, besides making arrangements to send the girl to a hostel in Tirupati.
