The main roads here reverberated with ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’ slogans raised by school and college students and general public during the ‘Mande Gundela Ghosha’ organised by Educational Institutions’ Joint Action Committee (JAC).
Participating as the chief guest, Visalandhra Mahasabha leader Parakala Prabhakar said the people’s representatives of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema failed in keeping the State united and what was urgently needed was their resignations but not empty rhetoric.
People made them Central and State Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLCs and MLAs but they could not prevent the Congress high command from carrying the formation of Telangana State forward though it has still a long way to go to fructify.
The agitation going on for the last 50 days was not a war against the people of Telangana but a fight against the separatist forces, who made it a habit to use objectionable language against the protagonists of unified State.
Peaceful protests
“By doing so, they are harming their own cause,” he said and added that the people of Seemandhra region should not be taken for granted. They had been holding peaceful protests against bifurcation with the firm belief that it was an issue to be settled amicably in a democratic manner.
Samaikyandhra JAC leaders and professors of Acharya Nagarjuna University P. Narasimha Rao and N. Samuel said the Centre could not go ahead with bifurcation of the State without allaying the apprehensions of youth and other sections of society.
