A day after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made harsh remarks against Governor ESL Narasimhan, his Cabinet colleagues too trained their guns on the latter.

The Ministers and Telugu Desam leaders minced no words while giving vent to their anger against the Governor.

Making a scathing attack, they expressed the view that the Governor’s institution was a burden on the exchequer. Except for oath-taking ceremonies, the institution has no explicit role, they observed.

Their outburst came in the backdrop of the Chief Minister and Mr. Narasimhan’s meeting in the city on Sunday.

Mr. Narasimhan is said to have advised the Chief Minister to restrain his party leaders and people’s representatives from making personal allegations and derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Excise Minister K.S. Jawahar said that the Governor was spending time visiting temples in the State rather than focussing on his duties.

Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu alleged that the Governor was behaving in a partisan manner and was involving actively in politics.

Backward Classes Welfare and Transport Minister K. Atchannaidu said that the Governor was not properly conveying the sentiments of people and ground realities in the State to the Central government.

‘Wrong suggestion’

TDP official spokesperson Kambhampati Rammohan Rao said that the Governor, surprisingly, suggested that the State government go slow against the Centre at a time when the former was organising “Dharma Porata Deeksha” for implementation of promises made at the time of bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh.
