Politicians, sometimes overemphasise their rant against their rivals and go overboard, often landing their party and themselves in trouble. At times, even their innocuous comments are given different connotations in accordance with the convenience of television channels and newspapers, paving way for a new controversy. Former Congress legislator Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) was at his fuming best at the Naidu duo (Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu) for letting people of Andhra Pradesh down by not giving them a good package in the Union Budget. His “Panchi” (Dhoti) comment on Venkaiah and ‘insulin’ remark on Chandrababu brought smiles among a section of reporters at a press meet. Nehru, a serious politician, too laughed his heart out and asked the reporters “not to read too much between the lines”.
Ali pulls a leg,
wins hearts
Comedian Ali, who attended a reality event in the city as the guest of honour, did what he is best at - cracking jokes and pulling a leg. He was at his lucid best when he narrated the bargaining nature of Indians and vividly presented a Bangkok incident. He, much to the delight of the anchor, even fed her a piece of cake.
