Mild tension at SPMVV

March 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - TIRUPATI:

Mild tension prevailed at Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) here on Monday as members of Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest seeking the recall of varsity’s Vice-Chancellor over alleged graft in filling of teaching-related posts.

TNSF State general secretary Ragala Anand Goud and BJYM State leader Yamini Sekhar alleged that teaching posts, for which notification was released during the regime of the previous government (December 22, 2013), were filled with inexperienced teachers, completely violating the norms of University Grants Commission (UGC) and suspected monetary gains to top authorities.

They alleged a large scale financial embezzlement and sought an explanation from Vice-Chancellor S. Ratnakumari, who reportedly failed to give answers regarding the sanction of teaching posts and approval letter by the EC members. They also urged the higher officials to respond and order and enquiry.

Anticipating trouble, police detained few leaders and shifted them to the police station, before dispersing the crowd.
