Microsoft contest finalists to tour Seattle

Head of the Microsoft’s academic student initiatives Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi on Wednesday said that the finalists of the ‘Microsoft Zonal Imagine Boot Camp’ at the national-level would be taken to Seattle in Washington on a seven-day tour from July 29 and the entire trip would be sponsored by Microsoft.

Addressing the inaugural of the two-day boot camp at Pragati Engineering College here, Mr. Venkatesh said that Microsoft was conducting the zonal camps at five different places all over the country and Andhra Pradesh had been chosen for the first time. “Over 400 students from the southern States are going to participate in the two-day event and the teams that are selected here will be sent to the nationals to be held in Delhi from April 29,” he said.

“This event is like the Olympics in sports and its objective is to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent and expertise,” he said, adding that it was being conducted in 183 countries at the global level.

Many teams

Teams from all the 183 countries would participate in the global event to be held in Seattle. Registrar of the JNTUK G.V.R. Prasada Raju lauded the college management for coming out with novel concepts. Chairman of the college Paruchuri Krishna Rao, and principal S. Sambhu Prasad were present.
