YSR Congress’ Lok Sabha member from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, who quit from Parliament on August 5 in protest against the Centre’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and form Telangana, submitted his original letter in the Speaker Meira Kumar’s office on Tuesday.

He claimed that on August 5, he sent the letter by fax to the Speaker. “Today I gave the original letter to the Speaker’s private secretary as she was not available.” The MP also handed over the copy of the resignation letter of party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, dated August 10, on the same issue.

Mr. Reddy, who was in a Hyderabad jail then, too had sent the letter by fax resigning his Lok Sabha membership on the Telangana issue.

Meanwhile, the seven Congress MPs from Seemandhra, who had earlier said they would urge the Speaker to accept their letters of resignation from Parliament, did not proceed with their decision.
