Medico sent out of RMC hostel for misconduct

A medico, who was allegedly involved in a theft, was sent out of hostel on Thursday from Rangaraya Medical College. According to Dr. R. Mahalakshmi, Principal of Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, there was a scuffle between two girl students over theft of Rs.200. One of them allegedly threatened and tried to blackmail other by posting the morphed pictures in social media.

The matter went public and medicos were divided into two groups over the issue. One group staged dharna in front of the Principal’s office on Wednesday. However, the Principal, Vice-Principal and Administrative Officer assured them to take action on Thursday.

“After preliminary enquiry, we got prima-facie evidence that the amount was stolen by one of the room-mates and she was expelled from the hostel,” the Principal said. On the alleged morphing of photos, Dr. Mahalakshmi said that they have given a complaint to police.

On Thursday there was a meeting where girl students of RMC met Principal Dr. Mahalakshmi, Vice-Principal Dr. Raghavendra Rao and Administrative Officer Srinivas and complained about blank calls. They gave the callers’ number to the committee.

No camera phones Responding to students’ complaints, the Principal announced that the College was banning all camera phones in the campus and hostels. Dr. Mahalakshmi also said that they have formed anti-ragging committee.
