The medical seat aspirants from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are in a fix as two government colleges from AP and six from Telangana do not figure in the Medical Council Committee (MCC) website.
The MCC is the body conducting the counselling for the all-India seats for those who qualify in NEET.
The colleges missing are the Anantapur Medical College and the RIMS Ongole from AP and the RIMS Adilabad, the Nizamabad Government Medical College, the Government Medical College Siddipeta, the Government Medical College Mehboobnagar, the Kakatiya Medical College and the Osmania Medical College from Telangana.
There are 30,880 government medical college across the country and 4,632 seats are allotted for the national quota under the 15% pool.
Of the 4,632 seats, AP contributes 283 from 11 government colleges and Telangana 180 from 8 colleges.
“Now the national pool has come down to 3,312 and we will be missing out on 1,700 seats,” said Mr. Srinivasa Rao from the NEET Parents Forum, Visakhapatnam. “We have no indication why these colleges are missing on the list and we tried to call the six hotline numbers but without any response nor have got any reply from the two emails listed in the website for inquiry,” he said.
The parents are apprehensive that if the list is not updated then as per a clause in the MCC, the quota will be taken away by the locals, since nobody will be in a position to opt for them in the online options.
