Continuing the success of State students in the national exams, a boy from Siddipet in Medak district bagged the all India top rank in the Chartered Account Common Proficiency Test (CA-CPT), competing among six lakh candidates.

Kandukuri Sharath, a student of Sri Medha ‘V’ institute secured first rank in the CA-CPT 2013 scoring 194 marks out of 200. The results were announced by the ICAI on Tuesday. Sharat’s father is a small-time businessman selling sewing machines while mother is a housewife. “They studied only till 10 class and I wanted to achieve something big to compensate their inability to pursue higher studies,” Sharath said on Tuesday.

Despite his friends opting for MPC to study engineering course, he preferred to choose a different path and joined MEC course. “I was fascinated by CA when I first heard about the opportunities. The expertise of my teachers at Sri Medha made this possible,” said Sharat, who never expected the top rank. He now plans to complete his Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC) and do the articleship of three years in the city.

Sri Medha ‘V’ Directors, M. Phani Kumar, and Ch. Chaitanya Kishore said that apart from the top ranks their students bagged several ranks at the national level.

“Experienced faculty coupled with hardwork of students made it possible,” they said.
