Marshals evict TD, YSRC MLAs

December 17, 2013 12:18 pm | Updated May 12, 2016 07:30 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Marshals evicted 40 Seemandhra Telugu Desam and YSRC MLAs from the Assembly on Monday night, ending their marathon sit-in inside the House in protest against the way the draft AP Reorganisation Bill was introduced and a debate was allowed. The MLAs were taken in three buses and dropped at their respective offices.

Earlier, they began their dharna soon after the Assembly was adjourned for the day at 3 p.m. and stayed put there, some squatting at the Speaker’s podium and others in the well of the House. Though arch rivals, they had a common grouse and that was introduction of the Bill in the House skipping its discussion in the Business Advisory Committee meeting and without taking leave of the House. Both the parties were firm on spending the night inside the House as a mark of protest.

TDP MLA Payyavula Keshav wondered why the introduction of the Bill was kept secret without it being listed in the day’s agenda.
