Even as the city police on Monday claimed that the detection of the sensational gold heist case was a great achievement, they did not reveal why they could not sense it though the gang had conducted ‘recce’ twice and moved in the city freely for a few days before they executed the operation.
The investigation officers did not answer why the Guntur and Vijayawada police had failed in identifying the notorious criminals and their movement in the capital region.
Why did the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force and the Law and Order police fail to observe the gang while they were checking escape plans in bus and railway stations?
Who helped the gang in escaping from the State and how did they cross it when the city police alerted the SPs and other police officials of all districts?
The police did not reveal the details of the vehicle owner (in which the dacoits came and looted gold) and the driver. How did the gang members plan to escape to Sri Lanka and whether they possessed visas or illegally?
“Had all the police officers reacted immediately, we could have nabbed the dacoits immediately. But a few officers did not,” said a police officer.
Whether the department planned to take action against the officers who acted negligently in the case?
City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang, who addressed the press conference, did not divulge details on the international links of the dacoits, details of the vehicle driver and other particulars, stating that the case was under investigation.
