Mannava becomes AMC Chairman

July 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - GUNTUR:

Senior TDP leader Mannava Subba Rao has been nominated as Chairman of the Guntur Agricultural Market Committee (AMC), which oversees the functioning of Asia’s largest chilli yard.

The name of Mr. Subba Rao has been cleared by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

But internal differences among TDP leaders had delayed the nomination of directors of the committee. The Government has not named the vice-chairman and 19 directors who form the committee. While Guntur West MLA M. Venugopala Reddy batted for Venna Sambasiva Reddy, both the Ministers Pulla Rao and Kishore Babu opted for Mr. Subba Rao. Mr. Subba Rao, who has held many party positions, including spokesperson, has been waiting in the wings ever since the TDP formed the new government.
