Mandlem tank breaches

June 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 11:18 am IST - KURNOOL:

The Mandlem tank in Jupadu Bungalow in Kurnool district has breached on Monday due to inflow of water due to heavy rainfall in upstream areas in the last three days. As water was gushing out, local farmers swung into action and placed sand bags in an attempt to plug the breach. Farmers lamented that irrigation officials were yet to inspect the breach despite being alerted.

Meanwhile, the level of Sunkesula reservoir reached 0.55 tmcft with an inflow of 1,300 cusecs of Tungabhadra water. The reservoir, with a capacity to store 1.2 tmcft, could be filled in a day if the inflow increases, according to officials.
