A man was killed by elephants near Hanakkal village in Kanekal mandal in Anantapur district.

Mallappa (51), was found dead on the fringes of the forest near the Hanakkal village, after he went out in the morning to attend nature’s call. While there are no indications of the animals stamping him to death, it is believed that the animals pushed him away from their path leading to a head injury and consequent death.

“They went to the Pavagada area and then to the Rolla mandal and now to the Kanekal mandal,” said Mr Chandrasekhar Reddy, DFO, speaking to The Hindu .

He said that the animals were probably on their way back as suggested by the path taken by them.
