Man held for ‘Parthi gang’ post on social media

The Prakasam police on Monday arrested a 30-year-old man for making an offensive posting on the social media that the notorious Parthi gang was on the prowl in the district.

The man, identified as V.Malyadri, was held under the Section 66(a) of the IT Act and Sections 505 and 506 of the IPC for spreading a false news that the gang members of the Parthi gang had slit the throat of a person with a knife, Taluku police said.

Drunk drivers get jail

Meanwhile, as many as 138 tipplers who were caught in drunk driving cases were awarded jail terms ranging between two days to 15 days by court. The convicts were also imposed a fine of ₹2,200 each, police added.
