Pintu Yadav, an accused in rape and SC, ST Atrocities cases, was awarded life imprisonment and 10 years imprisonment in two counts. The judgment was delivered by Y. Aravinda Reddy, Special Judge for SC, ST (POA) Act on March 20.
According to J. Ram Reddy, advocate for the accused, the punishment was awarded for committing a crime against a minor tribal girl in April, 2012.
Though the accused pleaded not guilty, the Judge found the accused guilty under Section 376-f IPC and Sec 3(2) (V) of SCs/STs (POA) Act 1989. “The accused was convicted under Section 235 (2) Cr.P.C. and sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and pay a fine of Rs. 1,000 for the offence under Section 376-f IPC. The Judge also imposed imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs. 2,000 for the offence under Section 3(2) (V) of SCs/STs (POA) Act.
Some channels aired from Friday morning onwards stating that this was first case in India after Nirbhaya Act came into force. However, Mr. Ram Reddy said that this case was in no way related as the Act was not yet passed.

People who rape the women should be dealt with very severely. Severity should be such that they should not forget the punishment and message of punishment should spread like wildfire. By hearing this people should get such a fear so that they should never ever think of touching a women without her consent. Then comes social education and others. Teaching should start from school. This menace should be wiped out of India, then we can call ourselves as a developed country.
