A retired teacher, Sitham Naidu (65), who allegedly killed his son Srikanth Naidu on December 29, died in suspicious circumstances in Palakonda subjail of Srikakulam district in the early hours of Friday. A judicial inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the reasons for his sudden death in the jail.

Initially, the police said that he died of heart attack but knife injuries were found during post-mortem in the Palakonda area hospital, according to sources.

Pathapatnam judicial officials conducted a preliminary inquiry into the incident.

Sitham Naidu, who used to live in Navya Nagar of Rajam in Srikakulam district, allegedly killed Srikanth Naidu as the latter was objecting to sale of properties.

According to the police, Srikanth used to have heated arguments with his father, who wanted to sell his properties to their relatives residing in Terlam of Vizianagaram district. He reportedly said that the sale of the property was necessary to perform the marriage of his daughter. Srikanth reportedly insisted on selling the properties to some other persons instead of the relatives. After a tussle, Sitham Naidu allegedly attacked and killed his son.
