The Nellore 4 Town police on Monday arrested one Lingabanti Venkatesh on the charges of cheating innocent and uneducated persons coming to draw money from ATMs in Nellore, Venkatachalam and Venkatagiri towns for the past two years. A special police team nabbed Venkatesh when he was trying to approach some persons at an ATM near the Madras busstand on the Trunk Road here.

Nellore Town DSP G. Venkataramudu and 4 Town CI, Ch. Seetharamaiah, said that Venkatesh would cheat uneducated persons who sought help to draw cash. His modus operandi was to help them out and hand over a fake ATM card while retaining their original card. He would remember the password and draw cash from their card. Venkatesh had committed such offences in three towns. Following complaints, police officials formed a special team to trace the activities of the accused and nabbed him. The native place of Venkatesh is Mahabubnagar district in Telangana but he had come to Nellore district in his childhood.
