Chairman of UB group of companies Vijay Mallya on Tuesday donated three kilograms of gold to the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara.

Mr. Mallya, who turned 58 years on Tuesday, urged the temple authorities to utilise the gold for gilding the doors at the Mahamani mandapam inside the hill temple thus fulfilling his promise which he had made nearly a decade back.

Temple authorities who wished not to be quoted said that Mr. Mallya had promised the temple authorities to bear all the expenses involved in providing gold gilding to all the existing 35 door frames inside the hill temple and in the process also had made some offering.

Today’s donation is in addition to the already donated gold for taking up the gilding work.
