Mild tension prevailed in Sircilla textile town on Saturday when Mala Mahanadu and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) youth wing activists clashed over setting fire to an effigy of Sircilla TRS legislator K. Taraka Rama Rao for allegedly encroaching upon the lands of Dalits.

When Mala Mahanadu district president R. Ramulu, SC\ST Sub-plan Sadhana Committee convener K. Mallesham and others arrived at the Gandhi chowk and tried to burn the effigy, the TRS youth wing leaders reached the place and entered into an argument and clashed with the Mala Mahanadu leaders.

The police rushed to the spot and tried to disperse the agitating groups. In the melee, the Mala Mahanadu leaders set fire to the effigy of the legislator and raised slogans.

When the situation turned worse, the police dispersed both the groups by resorting to mild lathi-charge and arrested the Mala Mahanadu leaders and shifted them to police station.
