‘Make Amaravati a free zone’

July 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - ONGOLE:

CPI secretary K. Ramakrishna on Sunday said that Amaravati should be made a free zone.

“This is imperative as people from all parts of the State should have equal rights in government jobs, postings, and promotions in the State capital region (SCR),” he told reporters here. He accused the TDP of adopting double standards on mobilising land for the Machilipatnam port, after stoutly opposing acquisition of 6,000 acres for the project when Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was the Chief Minister in united Andhra Pradesh saying 2,000 acres of land would suffice. The Left parties would chalk out a stir programme to protect the interests of the people of 29 villages in Krishna district who face displacement.
