Some unknown persons stole an ATM machine of the Indian Bank in Adoni town in the district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The bank manager lodged a complaint with Adoni III Town police that the ATM machine was stolen and it contained a cash of Rs. 5.27 lakh. The closed circuit cameras in the ATM centre were said to be non-functional. The police inspected the ATM centre and registered a case.
The miscreants decamped with cash after breaking open the ATM machine and dumped it in Chellavanka stream near Hebbatam village in the district. Residents of the village found the damaged ATM machine in the stream and alerted the police.
Clues team personnel and police officials inspected the spot. Adoni DSP K. Srinivasa Rao suspected that the ATM machine could have been stolen by an inter-State gang and taken to the stream in a van. Four special teams were constituted and the culprits would be nabbed soon, the DSP said. It was the second time that an ATM machine being stolen in the district.
